The photographic essay consists of seven photos representing young adult transgender individuals and members of FIERCE (Fabulous Independent Educated Radicals for Community Empowerment) in New York. Photographer Mariette Pathy Allen documents the lives of transgender youth, giving them social visibility and showing their need to be seen and accepted as they are. The trans teens are considered artists who struggle against heteronormative expectations and social constructionism, and reinvent their realities on a daily basis.
