Abstract:

The article reports on how parents are dealing with gender-variant children. In the past, transgender students were sent to psychologists and forced into activities that reinforced their biological gender. Now, parents, schools and doctors, are beginning to be more accepting of gender variance. Some feel that children who are allowed to act in a way that fits their chosen gender are more happy and well-adjusted, but others worry that these children will face harsh reactions.
