The article focuses on making college campuses more supportive for transgender and gender-variant students, staff, and faculty, as well as preventing discrimination. The authors suggest beginning, intermediate, and advanced steps that university administrators can take in areas such as health care, residence halls, bathrooms, locker rooms, gender and name changes, and public inclusion. The recommendations provide information for raising awareness of transgender issues, correcting institutional practices, and implementing long-term policy change. The ideas include temporary unisex facilities for LGBT events, gender-neutral housing, and application forms that allow for trans self-identification.
