Abstract:

This article presents information about the life of transgender pianist Sara Davis Buechner after moving from New York City to Vancouver, British Columbia. Prior to the transgender surgery, she played piano with some of the world's leading orchestras, but after the surgery she faced discrimination and a career dead end. When she moved to Vancouver she was accepted without question and is a popular university piano teacher and guest pianist. Canadians are much more accepting of personal lifestyles than Americans. .
