Research about the experience of having an assessment prior to obtaining hormones or surgery

An opportunity to participate in research about
Transgender people
Conducted by a transgender woman

You are invited to take part in a research study being done by Jolene Gillies, a doctoral student at Walden University, about the experience that some transgender people have with being assessed by a mental health professional prior to being accepted by a physician for hormones or surgery treatment.

If you have used hormones or had surgery after being assessed by a mental health, professional and you are over 18 years of age, you may be eligible to participate in the study.

If you would like to participate or have any questions please contact Jolene Gillies at Jolene.gillies@waldenu.edu or 989-316-2656. You may also contact Jolene’s faculty advisor Dr. Tracy Marsh at (800) 925-3368, extension 1624, or by email at tmarsh@waldenu.edu

Although Jolene would like everyone who meets the eligibility criteria to be a participant, she cannot accept any former, current, or perspective students, subordinates, or clients

The purpose of this study is to gain information about the experiences that people have with the current edition of the Standards of Care (SOC) requirement of assessment that could be used by the authors of the next edition of the SOC to make it better for transgender people. The next edition is due to be published in 2011.
