This article reports that the U.S. National Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health recently released its list of the primary health disparities that adversely impact the transgender community nationwide. The list was created to assist and educate health care providers about the specific health-related needs of transgender men and women. Many of the issues are interrelated and deal primarily with access to health care, including trans health services, substance abuse treatment, HIV/STD care and routine health and wellness care. The report outlines 13 specific health concerns for transgender women and men, including violence and murder prevention.
