The article states that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) youth are breaking down the old definitions of the word gay. According to Arnold Zwicky, a Stanford University linguist, gay as an identity may be at an end. GLBT youth now see themselves more as individuals than being defined necessarily by their sexuality. Zwicky further argues that social labels end up having different meanings for different people and that almost every generation wants to reinvent the labels by reinterpreting them or using new ones.
