Abstract:

The article focuses on the "International Journal of Transgenderism" (IJT), founded in 1997 and published for six years in an electronic Internet version. The new publisher of IJT, The Haworth Press, Inc., is planning to edit the paper versions of back issues. The name of this periodical reflects how IJT has become an international and interdisciplinary vehicle of scholarly research. The term "transgenderism" was chosen because it transcends the limits of gender manifestation and cultural categories, as well as being neutral in respect to etiology. The aim of this journal is to be a source of information concerning transgenderism studies. The editors ask for readers' responses to articles in the journal and suggestions for how the journal can be improved. They also request submissions, which could be on topics such as transsexualism, transvestitism, cross dressing, gender blending, and intersex.
