I want to announce the publication of my book, The Gay Liberation Youth Movement in New York: "An Army of Lovers Cannot Fail." The book addresses LGBT youth activism within the gay liberation movement. I focus on three community- and school-based New York City groups--Gay Youth (GY), Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.), and the Gay International Youth Society of George Washington High School--from the advent of gay liberation in NYC in 1969 to just after its dissolution and the rise of identity politics by 1975.
Haworth Press has just recently published "Male Bodies, Women's Souls: Personal Narratives of Thailand's Transgendered Youth," by LeeRay Costa and Andrew Matzner.
Anyone interested in how transgenderism fits into the Thai sex/gender system will find this book of interest. With its emphasis on personal narratives, this book is aimed at both a general readership and undergraduate/graduate student audience.
My name is Shannon Sennott. I am a co-founder of a recently formed not-for-profit named TRANSLATE. TRANSLATE was developed as a response to the specific concerns of those gender diverse individuals who currently attend women’s colleges. TRANSLATE's goal is to mediate among campus communities by fostering mutual understanding, education, and awareness through multi-level trainings and workshops and advisory support to faculty, staff and administration. It is also our mission to work for changes in campus policies regarding anti-discrimination and gender identity/expression.
