This essay discusses older gay GLBT people and the concerns they face as they grow older. Gay and lesbian partners are not eligible for Social Security survivor benefits if their partners dies. Limitations of benefits available to same sex partners from a deceased partner's pension plans are also discussed. Health insurance concerns for older same-sex couples are also described. Gay men or lesbians are also limited in making medical decisions and visitations of their partners. The article comments on the GLBT caregivers and elder housing concerns of gay men and lesbians.
