Assistant Professor in Clinical Human Sexuality
(Tenure Track-10 month)
Responsibilities: The qualified candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses that may include: Behavioral foundations of human sexuality, Sexual dysfunctions and their treatment, Foundations of clinical sexology, Sexual issues in relationship therapy, Sensitive issues in clinical sexology, and other topics as the need arises. Courses in human sexuality are offered on weekends to accommodate commuting students; two weekends per class. The individual will also be responsible for student advisement, coordinating clinical field instruction, being a liaison for dual-degree clinical programs, and supervising doctoral dissertations. Productive scholarship and service to the university and the profession consistent with a junior-level tenure-track appointment are also expectations of the position.
Qualifications: The qualified individual must have a doctorate in a related field from an accredited institution, experience teaching sexuality at the graduate or undergraduate level, experience in clinical practice in sex therapy, and a program of research and publication. AASECT certification is preferred. Experience with technology in support of instruction (including web-based instruction) is desired.
Appointment: This position is a tenure-track appointment that begins September 1, 2008.
Human Sexuality Program: This program, which began at the University of Pennsylvania in 1976, is unique in being the only fully accredited program in the U.S. to offer a doctoral degree as well as a master’s degree in sexuality. Students who enter with clinical training or enroll in dual degree programs are in the Clinical track. Graduates are practitioner-scholars who are prepared to educate, consult, provide counseling and therapy, and/or conduct research in a variety of settings on complex issues related to human sexuality.
